A Study on the Migration of Population by the Markov Chain in Korea

Abstract

|
In this study, migration in which individuals move through a finite set of states according to a discrete-time Markov Chain Model is considered. In this Model, underlying assumptions are
ⅰ) Social structure is closed,
ⅱ) The probability function for the observed proportions of the transition probabilities is assumed to have a multinomial distribution, and
ⅲ) The transition probabilities are constant and homogeneous aver time.
After deriving the maximum likelihood estimates of transition probability(p_ij), limiting structure and stationary probability matrix are studied.
